Re Project

Hillsborough’s slopes are dominated by large homes situated on lots that must be a minimum of half an acre.  The Re Project is a large brick estate that sits on about two acres.  The job was a remodel and new construction of the main house with a conservatory addition, site improvements, a pool house, and detached garage.

Walton & Sons Masonry was contracted to do all the masonry starting with repairs on the existing brick veneer.  The client requested that we match existing brick work over the entire northwest and southwest elevations of the sprawling main residence.

We added brick veneer to the new conservatory addition of the home and to a three-car detached garage, which featured brick arches over the doors.  As this was a full brick veneer application, we included stainless steel lintels, anchors, and fasteners in the installation to insure the material stay securely fastened to the substructure.  The 50/50 blend of Glen Grey Monticello handmade oversize  and Brandywine Handmade Oversize Brick created a beautiful and durable facade.

We constructed three masonry fireplaces that included fireboxes set with firebrick in a Herringbone pattern.  We also installed screen pockets, hearths and brick facing.  For the Living Room and Master Bedroom we installed an over-and-under fireplace.  Stainless steel flues were installed for all three fireplaces.

Ra Project

Located above 17-Mile Drive, this residence sits on 2.5 acres that look south over Carmel Bay towards Pt. Lobos.  On this project, Walton & Sons Masonry built fireplaces, constructed site walls, and set stone paving.

The site walls are built with an 80/20 blend Chief Cliff and Kennesaw Grey. The Fireplaces have a veneer of Kennesaw Grey and the stone paving is laid with Connecticut Blue Full Range.

Decorative Rock Network in Wallace, Ca, supplied all of the stone materials.

Lu Project

Atherton is one of the wealthiest cities in the U.S. with a zip code that rivals Beverly Hills.  Streets lined with majestic oaks and towering cedars offer a serene park like setting for estates secluded behind tall masonry walls.  The Lu Project required stone veneer for a Mediterrean style home located in a prime West Atherton location on a quiet corner lot of about 0.92 acres.

Walton & Sons Masonry placed cream colored limestone veneer set in an ashlar pattern on the main house, garage and poolroom.  Six-inch thick limestone was placed to wainscot height.  Above this, four-inch thick limestone was placed up to the soffit of the eve and gable areas.  Special engineering was required to attach the unusually thick and heavy limestone as veneer.  Walton & Sons Masonry manufactured and provided the split tail stainless steel ties required for the job.

In addition, we set limestone veneer for the entry and radius walls.  We built four masonry pilasters, low planter walls and placed the veneer and caps.  We also built the chimneys and chimney caps.  In addition, we aided the contractor by providing saw cutting services for concrete core drilling.
