Walton Masonry Staff

For more than 42 years Walton & Sons Masonry has been serving homeowners, contractors and architects from Carmel to San Francisco.

Dennis Walton
President

Dennis oversees the operations of his construction company, which includes a staff of six plus fifty-some field managers, masons and hoddies.  He has fifty-three years experience in the masonry industry and has been a licensed masonry sub-contractor for 42 years.  Dennis began an apprenticeship in 1961 in Utah, then moved to California in 1963 where he began work as a hodcarrier for Lynn Gion Masonry in Los Gatos.  He returned to his apprenticeship program and became a mason and ultimately a Journeyman Mason working on jobs all over the Bay Area.  In October 1972 he obtained his license and started Summit Masonry based in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  In 1983 he changed his business name to Walton & Sons Masonry and moved his base to Mountain View.  Since then, the specialty of the company has been high-end custom masonry work.

Born and raised on a farm in Pleasant View near Ogden, UT, Dennis has an entrepreneurial spirit and loves the challenge of business.  He believes the best advertisement is word of mouth.  Early on, he set out to provide the very best in masonry service with high quality installation augmented by prompt and efficient work.  He believes in clear communications to prevent mistakes.  His years of experience often provide solutions to masonry problems on complicated high-end projects.

Elsa Walton
Vice President

In 1983 Elsa met Dennis Walton and began to help with the organization of the new Walton & Sons Masonry office in Mountain View, CA.  In the early years she wore many hats as she answered phones, set up computer programs and handled accounts and payroll.  As the office staff grew, she took on special projects.

In recent years Elsa has taken classes for Adobe software products such as Photoshop, InDesign and Dreamweaver.  She designed the original Waltonsons website.  Over the past few years she has collected images, written text and revised the organization of the website.  Using WordPress and with the help of Jamie Carney of JC Designs, the new website was uploaded in November 2014.

Born in New York and raised in Redondo Beach, CA, Elsa is a teacher and writer.  She attended the Univ of Hawaii in Honolulu before graduating from the Univ of Oregon in Eugene.  Elsa has a BA in English Literature and she earned an MA in Instructional Technology at SFSU.  After teaching high school English and History in Riverside, Torrance, Sacramento and Palo Alto, she took time out when her two boys were small and then returned to the work force.  She worked as a Technical Writer and Educational Writer at ITEL, Tymshare, and Catalyst before teaming up with Dennis.

David, Brent, Dennis, Scott

The sons of Walton & Sons Masonry, Inc.

At one time or another some of the sons did work for Walton & Sons Masonry as drivers, hoddies and masons.  They have since departed to follow their own pursuits.

Scott Walton
Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, Scott assigns contracted jobs to Project Managers — including himself. He sets up job crews for each project and acts as Project Mgr. for his own assigned jobs. Scott must keep track of both equipment and material mobilized for various jobs while he must also make sure billings go out. He assists our estimators by meeting owners at potential job sites to determine the scope of their project and assess the desires of the client to assure a quality outcome. On larger jobs he meets with Architects and General Contractors. He puts together a package of activities to be bid and submits job site information to the Estimator. He works with the estimators to put together the proposals, to assure they are clear to the general contractors, and that the list of activities or scope of work are understood by all parties.

You might say Scott cut his teeth on brick, pulling joints in grout with a brick jointer when he was a small boy learning to help his dad on weekend masonry projects. Scott showed talent as a mason and came to work for his dad in April 1986 when he was 19. He worked for Walton Masonry for 18 years and then in 2004, as sons will, he struck out on his own. He moved up to the gold country where he worked for himself and other masonry companies building quality homes. With 30 years of masonry experience under his belt, Scott returned to Walton & Sons Masonry in March 2016.

Scott is the proud father of four children, including Meranda Walton, our Estimator. Having lived in the gold country for 12 years, he commutes to our branch office in San Carlos during the week. Scott and all his kids like to live an active mountain lifestyle. They love to ski, river raft, ride dirt bikes and hike on the mountain trails of the Sierra Nevada.

Jennifer is native to Morgan Hill.  After graduating from Live Oak High School she spent ten years doing office clerical work before she began what she calls her most important job.  Jenny was a stay-at-home mom for 17 years.  She raised three daughters before rejoining the workforce at Walton & Sons Masonry.  She loves spending time with her family, going camping and riding their quads, especially at Pismo.  Today, Jennifer is grandmother of six.  “They are the light of my life and keep me young.”
